If you are a creator on X, your public posts and your interactions with Grok may be used to train and fine-tune AI models developed by xAI.
The good news is that X provides a direct setting to opt out.
If you are also checking how Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Medium, or other platforms use your content for AI training, Sparkonomy’s free Creator AI Consent Audit can help you review the available controls in one place.
The setting takes only a few minutes to change.
You can follow the short walkthrough video below or use the steps that follow.
Prefer watching? The video above shows exactly where to find X’s Grok training setting and turn it off.
Log in to X and go to:
Settings and privacy
Select:
Privacy and safety
Then scroll to:
Data sharing and personalization
Select:
Grok & Third-Party Collaborators
You will see several Grok-related settings.

Find this option:
Allow your public data as well as your interactions, inputs, and results with Grok and xAI to be used for training and fine-tuning.
Turn the checkbox Off.
X says that after you opt out, you can still use Grok. Your interactions with Grok, inputs, and results will no longer be used through this setting to train or fine-tune Grok.
You may notice two other options on the same page:
Allow X to personalize your experience with Grok
and
Allow Grok to remember your conversation history
These are separate from the AI-training setting.
Turning off Grok personalization stops X from using your data to personalize your Grok experience. The conversation-history setting controls whether Grok remembers details from previous conversations.
If your goal is specifically to opt out of AI model training, the first training and fine-tuning checkbox is the one you need to switch off.
X says the opt-out applies to AI model creation and fine-tuning by xAI.
However, if you voluntarily submit feedback on a Grok conversation, such as using thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback, X says that conversation and related data may still be used to improve and train Grok.
So if you do not want that conversation used for training, avoid submitting optional feedback on it.
X is only one platform. AI-training settings work differently across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Medium, Substack, and other creator platforms.
Sparkonomy’s free Creator AI Consent Audit helps you check where AI-training controls are available, how to opt out, and what those controls still cannot protect.
